Attention News/Assignment Editors: Media Advisory - Transportation Safety Board of Canada to Release Final Report of Swissair Flight 111 OTTAWA, March 21 /CNW/ - The Transportation Safety Board of Canada (TSB)
will release the final report of the Swissair Flight 111 investigation at a
news conference on Thursday, March 27, 2003 in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
The crash of Swissair Flight 111 took place on September 2, 1998. All 229
passengers and crew members perished. The final report provides a detailed
account of the investigation, including the causes and contributing factors of
the occurrence.
News Conference:
----------------
Camille Thériault, Chairman of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada,
will host the news conference. Media accreditation will be required to gain
access to the news conference. Journalists are asked to pre-register for the
news conference by Tuesday, March 24, 2003.
Time: 10:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Atlantic Standard Time (AST)
Location: Port Royal Ballroom E, Halifax World Trade and
Convention Centre

(Enter through main entrance at Argyle and George
Streets. TSB representatives will direct media to the
registration area.)
Materials: The final report and supporting materials will be
available in English and French, and will be published
on the TSB website (http://www.tsb.gc.ca) following
the news conference.

This webcast will be archived for 90 days.
Interviews: TSB spokespersons will be available following the news
conference for one-on-one interviews on Thursday March
27 and Friday, March 28 in Halifax. Journalists must

Media Lockup:

Journalists will have an opportunity to review the final report in
advance of the news conference in a media lockup. The following arrangements
have been made for the media lockup:
Time: 8:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Atlantic Standard Time (AST)
Location: Same venue as news conference
Port Royal Ballroom E, Halifax World Trade and
Convention Centre

Streets. TSB representatives will direct media to the
registration area.)Media accreditation will be
required to gain access to the Port Royal Ballroom E.
Journalists will not be able to leave the room until
the lockup is over.
Restrictions: No transmitting or receiving devices, such as cellular
phones, pagers or personal digital assistants, will be
allowed into the media lockup. All items can be
retrieved immediately following the lockup.
Television Crews: TV crews are asked to set up their camera equipment at
9:30 a.m. AST. All personal transmitting or receiving
devices will not be allowed into the lockup. Crew
members will also be required to stay in the Port
Royal Ballroom E until the lockup is over.
Pre-registration: Journalists are asked to pre-register for the news
conference and media lockup. Please contact one of the
