Press ReleaseSOURCE: International Aero, Inc.Major Innovation in Real-Time Fault Diagnosis And PrognosticsIntroduced at Paris Air ShowProduct Is from New Business Partnership Between International Aero, Inc. and Phoenix Aviation and Technology, Specifically Formed to Advance Air SafetyLE BOURGET, France, Paris Air Show, June 12 /PRNewswire/ -- International Aero, Inc., a Burlington, Washington (USA) aerospace manufacturer, distributor, and FAA repair station, partnered with Phoenix Aviation and Technology, a United Kingdom-based technical-research and product-development company. The two companies have introduced the aviation industry's most innovative product ever for the detection and prognosis of faulty electrical wiring and connections. Named the PCDU (Portable Cable Diagnostic Unit), the device is a derivative of the Automatic Real-Time Cable-Monitoring Analysis System (ARCMAS(TM)) that Phoenix developed and the companies are jointly manufacturing and marketing.`` The age of an aircraft, the prevailing environment it is operated in, normal vibrations and, especially, routine maintenance practices all take a toll on a plane's wiring network,`` said Robert S. Moore, vice president of International Aero. ''With literally hundreds of miles of wiring transversing the typical plane today, the PCDU is the surest, quickest, most efficient means to detect faulty wiring and connections, leading to a minimization in aircraft down-time, a reduction in no-fault-found wire and component removals and an increase in Air Safety.`` According to Moore, ``the handheld PCDU provides a comprehensive range of real-time fault diagnostics and prognostics with fault location down to 1cm resolution. In addition to this the unit is capable of monitoring cable performance and degradation as well as verifying whether an installation has been installed or reinstalled properly.'' He continued, ``it can process mixed harness bundles of single, twisted, or coaxial cable types up to 100 at a time. Despite its advanced technology design and engineering, Moore said, the ARCMAS / PCDU is a simple unit to use. For total flexibility, he added, the system offers users performance options and upgrades together with a range of 'on demand' aircraft specific Interface Cables.'' ``With just one person operating it, the PCDU performs in less than one hour a vital maintenance task that, until now, took a crew of several people working up to a week to do,'' commented Glenn Lacey, chief executive officer of Phoenix Aviation and Technology. ``Now, there is no need to remove parts, pull wires, and visually inspect every inch of wire for blemishes, cuts, or separations. Since the entire operation can be accomplished in minutes not days, it allows for more frequent inspections, further enhancing its emphasis on safety.'' The partnership between the two companies was formed earlier this year. They have as a primary objective to develop, market, manufacture, and distribute products and services that take fault diagnostics and prognostics to new levels. Besides the key issue of improving air safety, the essential themes behind the companies work is improving fleet reliability and performance as well as increasing users' productivity and profits.
