Having followed all this stuff with considerable interest and some

digging into our own procedures I noticed some discrepancies.

Here in Canada it has been mandatory for a while to carry

PBE's (personal breathing equipment) on board. We have two in the

cockpit,in addition to the O2 masks and smokegoggles; however the

QRH (at our co.) still only refers to masks and goggles, no reference

to the PBE's whatsoever; incl. in other manuals.

Some other questions regarding the PBE's that came up: how to

establish communications, and how to deal with the situation when

you cannot see the instruments because of the smoke.

Does anyone have procedures in place? Or experience to share?

 A failure will not appear till a unit has passed final inspection
