customer interest.” |

The fear of missile attacks on commercial or business aircraft
is a real one, and Gulfstream is offering its customers the
chance to protect themselves through an FAA certified
countermeasure device.
The infrared counter measure system (IRCM) was certified for
the Gulfstream IV back in 2000. It is based on BAE Systems’
Matador technology and has now also been certified for the GV
series.
Speaking at the show yesterday, Gulfstream president Bryan
Moss said 10 aircraft had now been fitted with the equipment.
“We’ve seen an increased level of customer interest in the
IRCM,” he says. “It addresses the ongoing threat that many
operators have when they are travelling in politically unstable
regions. Their safety is our primary concern .”
Sophisticated
Moss adds: “To expect airports to acquire and deploy the
necessary resources to effectively protect aircraft from this
threat would be impractical. With an ORCM-equipped Gulfstream,
the passengers and crew have a level of protection that is both
reliable and tested.”
The equipment is being shown on Gulfstream’s stand (E718).
Moss says the Middle East is important for the business and
corporate market. “We have a sophisticated buying audience
here.”
Gulfstream has 70 aircraft in the region, five with
fractional and charter operations, 17 with private individuals
and 42 with governments primarily for special-mission work. |
