Let citizens take over

Three years have passed since the Swissair disaster, and the committee of senior bureaucrats responsible for the upkeep of the memorial near Peggy's Cove still hasn't met (Oct. 30 story).

Are they all so senior that they are too old and decrepit to stir themselves to action, too busy doing nothing but sitting around in the Halifax Club, studying the stock market reports, content to draw their bloated salaries and let the world go hang?

Premier John Hamm, fire these superannuated fools and give the job to a few citizen volunteers. You'll be amazed at what can be done by ordinary, conscientious people.

John Murray, Seabright
